Top 10 Style Tips

Secrets YOUR personal shopper or girlfriend would never tell you :)

1) Dress for the Life you want. Make the most of your everyday look but don't wear high heels to the park and don't wear flip-flops to the office.

2) Love your Body - the one you currently have not the one you had 10 years ago or the one you wish you had. Know how to hide your flaws and work your strengths.

3) Invest in Quality Key Pieces. Know what to spend money on and where to save. A great suit that will take you through many seasons is worth spending money on - a trendy top should be bought for a bargain.

4) Wear One Statement Item. Don't overdue it!!!
One bold piece of jewelry or One scarf or One pair of red shoes - not all of them at once!

5) Take a Picture! If you love your outfit - take a Polaroid and keep a little photo-album of all your favorite looks - it will be a great reference on those dreaded mornings where it seems as if there was nothing in your wardrobe!

6) Keep it Simple. If you put too much effort into your outfit - it won't look effortless.

7) Look Presentable. You never know when you will run into your new boss at Starbucks - or your future husband!

8) Prepare before you Shop. Go through your wardrobe - make a list of items needed.
Come prepared: bring the right bra and belt and the shoes to go with it.

9) Befriend a Tailor and a Drycleaner. You will change sizes and you will spill - seek professional help when all else fails!

10) Hire a Personal Stylist! Your girlfriends are LYING: those jeans DO make you look fat...let a professional help you and make you look like the gorgeous women you are!!!

What To Wear To The Races

Racing days are upon us - all sounds lovely and easy - but if you’re a woman then you know it brings the nightmare of what to wear!

Never forget to go through your wardrobe first, you probably have the makings of a fabulous outfit there already but you just haven’t put it together yet!

Some top tips to help you through:

1.  Remember to check what the dress code is for the day - some days can be quite casual - Ladies day is usually dressed up to the nines with hats quite a common sight, but not a necessity.

2. The rule with hats - if you have a high/big forehead then wear a hat if not then a fascinator is better.

3. Start simple - the outfit is going to be on you for a long day, so look for a simple shift dress or summer dress that you can layer and accessorise.  A flowery day dress - (plenty around) rather than an evening cocktail dress.

4. Accessories can take a plain dress and make it look fantastic - if you go for a large print then bring the size of your accessories down.

5. You don’t want to join the ‘meat market parade’ - don’t show too much flesh, - Cleavage or Legs NOT both.

6.  A jacket to suit your body shape - accentuating your waist if you have one or if you haven’t then a jacket that gives the allusion of one.

7.  A pretty cardigan to tone with your dress - with or without a jacket. Remember it can be very cold, raining or windy - don’t just create your outfit for a hot summers day, this is England and layering is the name of the game.

8. Shoes can make or break an outfit, but go for comfort as well as looks because you’re going to be in them all day sometimes on grass, disappearing into the soil is not an elegant look. With a shift dress low pretty pumps can look great as can wedge sandals (very in at the moment - bright colours or neutrals).

9. The overall look should be smart/feminine but more girly/dressed up than the office, but not too overdone.

10. Trousers are an option especially really trendy ones that are shorter in the leg (then they don’t get grass stained and wet) but remember if you have short legs - wear them with high wedges.

11. A small umbrella that tones with your outfit is always a good idea.

12. A bag that can lodge under your arm or cross over your body always helps when you’re trying to drink your champagne and fill in your betting slip!

13. Lots of bright colours are in this year, but if that isn’t your look then pale neutrals are also popular.

And last, but not least, if you’re looking at your wardrobe and panicking why not give me a call. I’m offering a Special Day Dilemma Package at just £80 for 2 hours. Visit  http://www.evalaw-personalstylist.com/ for more details.

Have fun at the races..see you there!!

Spring 2011 Trend: Lace

Lace may typically seem like a fabric best worn in the autumn, but this season it’s a hot trend for Spring 2011. The key looks are romantic and sexy without being too revealing. A sheer, lace dress alone looks great on the runway but for real life you need to pair it with a slip. A delicate ivory blouse paired with denim is a great way to add a bit of refined sexiness to a casual jean. A lace skirt paired with a structured top projects a vintage look that’s been modernised.

Designers are feeling the romance with lace this season and using it to design skirts, dresses, tops, and even hot pants. Check out the designs below to see how lace can be worn this summer.

1 Little Black Dress : 9 Different Looks

Photo

So you do own that perfect little black dress but are a bit fed up with the same old ways of wearing it.
Need some inspiration?  I will show you 9 completely different ways to rock the exact same dress:

How to get the look above: When going minimalist, the accessories take center stage, so they'd better be luxe and eyecatching; in other words, this is not the time to scrimp.  Be prepared to shell out some cash for either high-end designer labels or top-shelf vintage.  These t-strap sandals stamped to look like a rich exotic leather and fab clutch are both timeless, yet right on trend.

Photo

How to get the look: Take your LBD for a walk on the wild side with a leather motorcycle jacket, and tough knee-high leather boots.  For a rocker chic vibe, the metal of choice is never dainty and always silver (or platinum), so pile on accessories like bangles by the bunch.  Sleek futuristic shades and a hands-free cross-body bag make you look ready for action, while diamond panther earrings confirm that this kitty has a dangerous side.

Photo

How to get the look: For a much-needed dose of sartorial ooh-la-la, start with a classic denim jacket, and add a colourful scarf and bag in prints that are complementary. Here, the blue in both not only ties in the jacket to create a coordinated overall look, but makes them work together without being overly matchy about it. Black leggings, booties, and of course a jaunty beret add enough je ne sais quoi to get you mistaken for a French fille.

Photo

How to get the look: When a dress is this versatile, it's more than just a dress; add some rockstar leggings, and it becomes a fabulous tunic! (If your particular bodytype looks best with your waist defined, simply cinch on a classy black belt.)  Fun, colorful booties and a cape or poncho look downtown chic without trying too hard, while tough brass-hued accessories keep it edgy. And best of all, classic diamond studs hint at the possibility of a fabulous, artist-friendly trust fund...

Photo

How to get the look: Lil' Miss Fashionista, you know how to extract the maximum mileage out of the LBD.  Earth- and chocolate-tones make the black of the dress look rich (done right, brown with black is a strikingly chic combo) while the berry hues in the accessories and shoes add some sass and the just right amount of frivolity.

Photo

How to get the look: The bombshell knows that with the right accessories, the LBD goes from appropriate to NSFW.  How?  An animal print is pretty much mandatory, especially leopard or cheetah. And gold...lots & lots of gold (preferably real, embellished, and received as a gift from a suitor). With shoes and accessories, go for height, go bright, and as much flash as you can muster. Here, the mustard yellow of the heels plays off the warm tones of the trench and the leopard print, creating a coherent overall feel, and a playful, sexy vibe. For the requisite teensy dog, consider adopting one.

Photo
How to get the look: For the same reason your Mum warned you to always wear your good underwear "just in case," you never know who you're going to run into just running errands. And do you really want to bump into your boss/ex/rival looking a total mess? Instead, toss on the LBD, and opt for the failsafe chic of a classically preppy red/black/white look.  Add touches of red in the headband and floral-pattern flats, and some white with a pearl necklace and striking white watch.  The soft, feminine coral/red tones in the cardigan pull everything together in a non-matchy way, while the coordinating lipgloss is a subtle but effective touch, making you look perfectly polished and frenemy-ready.

Photo

How to get the look: Lounging poolside is the perfect time to chill with a fun book, a Glamour Girl hat, and a festive cocktail...and your trusty LBD.  The relaxed silhouette means you can just toss on scarf and some casual gladiator sandals, and head straight from the beach to cocktails and dinner.  Because jewellery at the beach or pool is - let's face it - ridiculous, a colourful oversize tote and equally oversize sunglasses render you look stylish rather than Fashion Victim'ish.

Photo

How to get the look: Although the days are long gone when travel was actually considered glamorous, you don't personally have to succumb to scruffiness, thanks of course to your LBD.  Just as on Errand Day (Look #7 of the LBD), a colour scheme of black, red, and white is failsafe.  A striped, vaguely French cardi is a smart way to ward off any in-flight chill, and paired with equally chic black flats and a gold locket, it shows you didn't leave your sense of style at home.  Stash the on-board necessities in a roomy red tote - mineral water, Kindle and even a coordinating makeup bag & bracelet/watch - and when it's time to snooze, you'll be glad you packed your iPod and cheeky pink eyemask which lets pesky flight attendants know that, hello...The Bitch is Sleeping already.

Well there you go, there is always something for everyone..
